Lollipop Splinter Balsa wood, wooden doll head, red paint 4" x 1.25" For this project, I had a few different ideas in the beginning of the planning processes. However, I decided to scrap my first ideas and chose to use a more impactful memory. I chose to use a memory of my grandma pulling out a huge splinter out of my hand. Though I don't really remember the pain, I remember the amount of blood, my aunt giving me a lollipop, and my little brother screaming like he thought I was dying. Even though it's not the happiest memory, it's definitely one that I will never forget. I created the splinter using a small stick of balsa wood and using my utility knife to cut chunks of it off until I got that triangular shape. I also added a rough-looking texture, even though the balsa wood is soft and light. Originally I wanted to use resin and dye it red with food coloring. I wanted the ball to be see through.
